Hotel linen uses a variety of different fabrics such as cotton, linen, wool, and polyester due to different needs like usage and aesthetics. What are the precautions for different fabrics when washing? How to maintain the original color of fabrics and not deform them? Amain will briefly introduce to you cleaning methods in this article.
1. Hemp fiber fabric hotel linen
Hemp fiber is hard and has poor cohesion, and it is lighter than cotton fabrics when washing. It is necessary to not use hard brushes and forcibly rub to avoid fluffing on the surface. Also, it cannot be forcibly twisted after washing. Colored fabrics should not be scalded with hot water, and hemp fiber fabric hotel linen should not be exposed to sunlight avoiding fading.
2. Cotton fabric hotel linen
Cotton fabric has strong alkali resistance, weak acid resistance, and strong high-temperature resistance. It can be washed with various soaps or detergents. Before washing it, soak it in water for a few minutes which should not be too long avoiding the color damage. Intimate clothes should not be soaked in hot water so as to avoid coagulating the protein in sweat stains and adhering to the clothing causing yellow sweat spots. The best water temperature for washing with detergent is 40~50°C. You can use the "small quantities in many times" method for rinsing. That is, it is not necessary to use a lot of water for each rinse, but need to wash it several times. After each washing, it should be wrung out and rinsed again for a second time to improve washing efficiency. You should dry your clothes in a cool and ventilated place to avoid fading of coloured fabrics by exposing them to the sun.
3. Silk fabric hotel linen
Soak it in water for about 10 minutes before washing it, and the soaking time should not be too long. It is forbidden to wash it with alkaline water. Use neutral soap or soap flakes, and neutral detergent. The lotion is better with mild temperature or room temperature. Gently squeeze the water instead of twisting it after washing. In addition, it should be dried in a cool and ventilated place instead of exposing to the sun or using a dryer.
4. Wool fabric hotel linen
Wool is resistant to alkali, so it should be washed with neutral detergent or soap. Wool fabrics will shrink and deform in an aqueous solution above 30°C, so the washing bath temperature should not exceed 40°C. In general, aqueous detergent solutions are prepared with room temperature (25°C) water. Wool fabric white hotel linen should not be washed with a washboard. If with a washing machine, it should be washed lightly, and the washing time should not be too long to prevent shrinkage. After washing, squeeze it by hands to remove moisture instead of twisting it and then drain off. It is advisable to take half a minute when dehydrating with a washing machine. It should be dried in a cool and ventilated place, and not exposed to strong sunlight to prevent the fabric from losing luster and elasticity and causing a decrease in strength.
5. Viscose fabric hotel linen
Viscose fiber has a large shrinkage rate and low wet strength. It should be soaked while washing, but not for a long time. Viscose fabrics will harden when exposed to water, so wash them lightly to avoid pills or cracking. It should be washed with neutral detergent or low alkali detergent, and the washing solution temperature should not exceed 45°C. After washing, fold up the clothes and squeeze out the water in handfuls, avoiding wringing. It is necessary to dry them in a cool or ventilated place instead of exposing them to the sun after washing.
6. Polyester fabric hotel linen
The polyester fabric hotel linen should be soaked in cold water for 15 minutes, and then washed with a general synthetic detergent. The temperature of the washing lotion should not exceed 45°C. The dirty parts of the neckline and cuffs should be scrubbed with a brush. After washing, rinse and gently twist it. Also, dry them in a cool, ventilated place or exposed them to the sun. However, not use a dryer to avoid wrinkles due to heat.
